Description
Sarah Baker Year XOXO (Extrait de Parfum) is a futuristic vanilla perfume that envisions Paradise not as something lost, but as something preserved for the future. Created by perfumer Margaux Le Paih-Guérin, it is the final chapter in the Sarah Baker Vanilla trilogy, following Velvet Vendetta and Va Va Vanilla. The science fiction inspiration comes from the future of the city of Belmont, Nevada: on the surface lies a lifeless ghost town, while beneath a small hut stretches a vast, hidden paradise with gardens, orchards, and the whole scene interwoven with vanilla vines. The plants are grown using organic technology developed after the climate collapse, while old books and life-saving knowledge are preserved for future generations. The perfume’s central question is simple: will we protect the future, or return to the past in search of an earthly paradise?
Year XOXO opens with a flood of fresh, clean air, molecular ozone, and crisp green apples, filling the space with an immediate sense of brightness and weightlessness. Dreamlike musks, the dry intimacy of old books, cashmere trees, and the scent of leather soften the fragrance. The “white clouds” accord enhances the floating, almost unreal atmosphere, while the fragrance moves between the natural and the futuristic, between memory and possibility. The Forbidden Vanilla accord has the final say, bringing warmth and sensuality to the ethereal composition and concluding the journey from open space to warm skin.
Sarah Baker Year XOXO will appeal most to those who prefer vanilla in a conceptual rather than traditional form. It’s less about obvious sweetness and more about mood, texture, and intimacy. It feels like fresh air, the pages of an old book, warm bodies, and silence: the return of paradise lost, imagined on a molecular level.
